A century of Argentine polo as seen from on and off the field, in town and country, in Argentina and abroad.
The players, the grooms, the ponies, the spectators and the polo families are the remaining vestiges of a byegone era and of a sport steeped in nostalgia and recreated on these pages.

We pay homage to all those who played and brought this «sport of Kings» to the privileged condition in which it finds itself in today.

Luisa Miguens (author) was born in Buenos Aires in 1946. The daughter of a polo player she has been immersed in the sport since her early childhood. In 1968 she married Gonzalo Tanoira, a ten goal handicap and one of the greatest polo players of his generation reaching his apogee in the 1970s and 80s. With him she shared some of best polo moments of those two decades and accompanied him all over the world: to England, Spain, France, Mexico, Chile, Australia and the USA to name but a few.

Her three sons and her two sons-in-law are all polo players and she herself was a keen participant in country «estancia» polo.

During his lifetime, her husband, who was then President of the Argentine Polo Association asked her to start searching for photographs and stories so as to put together an Argentine history of this captivating sport. This book is a homage to his memory.

Luisa, an architect, lives in Buenos Aires. This is her first book.
